Singaporean Shanmuga Retnam presented our book, SuperCities, to Director General Dr Thai of Ministry of Construction, Vietnam.

“Our cities, which often have limited economic resources and political power, have to address formidable challenges. Thus, we have chosen to refer to this generation of cities – the leadership, creativity, and shared vision of which can help develop initiatives and projects of significant impact – as Supercities. The Supercity has succeeded in understanding its own nature and the components of excellence needed as a basis to define its own urban profile, activate projects, and stimulate networks of cooperation”. Retnam is one of five management members to help Vietnam’s transformation into a smart city. These five members will convene to craft strategies in consultation with the government to include the leadership of the 63 provincial governments, all in a bid to accelerate the sustainable smart urban transformation of the country.
